Mufti Moosa Salie is an experienced Islamic scholar with over two decades of dedicated service to Muslim communities. After completing his Hifz (Qur’an memorization) in 1997 and advanced Islamic studies at Madrasah In’aamiyyah in Camperdown, South Africa in 2005, he has worked to apply his knowledge in practical ways.
Since August 2024, he has served as the Imaam at the Islamic Center of Bothell in Washington. Here at ICOB, he leads daily prayers, delivers sermons, and provides religious guidance to the community. His move to the United States continues his long-standing commitment to serving Islam and supporting Muslim communities.
Prior to his current role, Mufti Moosa spent many years serving in South Africa. He worked in various mosques in KwaZulu-Natal, including Richmond and Howick West Masjid. From 2008 to 2024, he held multiple important positions at Jamiatul Ulama (Council of Muslim Theologians) KwaZulu-Natal. These roles included working as a Halaal Officer, Publications Officer, Deputy Administrator, Deputy Secretary-General, and Mufti in the Fatwa Department. He was also authorized to officiate civil marriages for the Muslim community in South Africa.
Known for his clear and practical approach, Mufti Moosa is a skilled public speaker who addresses contemporary issues facing the Muslim community. He is particularly valued for his ability to provide meaningful guidance and pastoral care, helping individuals navigate both religious and personal challenges.
